The urban area is located at the lower reaches of Miyun Reservoir. The Baihe River flows from north to south through the middle of the city. The Chaohe River runs from the east to the west through the south of the city. The two rivers converge into the Chaobai River in the development zone. The overall plan of the new city determines that Miyun is an eco-new city that is guided by the theory of recycling economy and ecology and supported by ecological science and technology with the objective of livable, economical and harmonious.
