In the course of experiment of physics and chemistry, Victor Meyer method is used to determine the relative molecular mass of liquid organics. The reagents used are often carbon tetrachloride. Due to the considerable toxicity of CTC and the gasification in the experiment, it will lead to some environmental pollution and harm to the health of teachers and students. Therefore, it is necessary to select from the common more than 1,000 kinds of liquid organic solvents through condition screening and QSAR The principal component analysis of the pattern recognition of the parameters gave new assay reagents of low toxicity, suitable for student experimentation, such as ethanol, acetone and ethyl acetate. Under the same conditions, the new assay reagent was tested and compared with carbon tetrachloride, the relative error is within the allowable range. It can be considered that in this experiment, it is feasible to replace carbon tetrachloride with low-toxic ethanol, acetone and ethyl acetate.
