刘永之教授1926年生于湖南浏阳,1952年毕业于原湖南大学矿冶系。1952年到现在一直在中南工业大学(原中南矿冶学院)从事教学和科研工作。曾任选矿教研室主任、副系主任及矿物工程系主任、建材部科学技术委员会委员。现仍任矿物工程系学术委员会副主任,兼任中国金属学会选矿学会、中国硅酸盐学会非金属矿学委会理事、中国钨协顾问及其它全国性学术团体的七个兼职。
Professor Liu Yongzhi was born in Liuyang, Hunan Province in 1926 and graduated from the Department of Mining and Metallurgy, Hunan University in 1952. 1952 until now has been engaged in teaching and research work at Central South University of Technology (formerly Central South Mining and Metallurgical Institute). Served as beneficiation teaching director, deputy director and director of Department of Mineral Engineering, Building Materials Science and Technology Commission. He is currently the deputy director of the academic committee of the Department of Minerals Engineering. He is also part-time director of the Institute of Mineral Processing of China Metallurgical Society, director of Non-metallic Mineral Resources Committee of China Silicate Society, consultant of China Tungsten Society and other national academic groups.
