Phytohemagglutinin (PHA) is a glycoprotein extracted from red kidney beans. It was discovered at the beginning of this century that PHA had a lectin effect on human and animal erythrocytes. In 1960 Nowell reported that PHA was added to cultured lymphocytes to promote lymphocyte division. In 1964, Robbing reported that under the influence of PHA, cultured small lymphocytes can be transformed into lymphoblasts and undergo cell division later. In the early 1960s, PHA was used to treat aplastic anemia based on the PHA’s ability to promote the division of leukocytes and obtain certain results. Later, considering that PHA can convert lymphocytes into immunological lymphoblasts and improve the body’s cellular immunity, many authors have tried PHA to treat malignant tumors. In vitro culture
