1965年建国后的新加坡在周围的马来主权国家的威胁和学习西方而求存的现实环境中,华文教育一直在这种国家生存和人民生存的现实中被压制,华语、华文教育以及华人传统的存续长期以来都是华人作家关心的重要命题,正是在这种实用主义压迫华文传统的现实中,新加坡的浮城品格更加的明显。作为新加坡中生代代表作家的希尼尔,其创作执着于追忆历史,着力于维护中华传统文学以及对浮城(新加坡)市民的日常生活图景的描绘,为新加坡城与人的形象提供了一道新的文学风景。
Singapore in 1965 After the Threat of the Malay Sovereign Power in Surrounding Countries and the Survival Environment for Learning from the West, Chinese Education has Been Suppressed in the Realities of Such State Existence and People’s Livelihood, Chinese Language, Chinese Education and Chinese Tradition Has long been an important topic of concern to Chinese writers. It is in this reality that the pragmatism has oppressed Chinese traditions that Singapore’s floating city character is even more conspicuous. As a Nepali representative writer in Singapore, she is dedicated to the memory of history, to the preservation of Chinese traditional literature and the portrayal of the everyday life of Floating City (Singapore) citizens, providing a new literature for the image of Singaporeans and their people landscape.
