In the extrusion process, the role of mold design is becoming more and more important. The task of aluminum extrusion plants is to predict more accurately the producibility and product costs of new cross-section products, increase their production capacity, and meet the ever-increasing demands for product accuracy and surface quality. The design and manufacture of extrusion dies has correspondingly increased requirements. At the moment, an important aid to implementing these requirements is the use of computers to design and process molds (CAD / CAM). However, computers need a more specific programming, which is still far from complete. In recent years, therefore, more and more consideration and research have been put forward on the influence of the shape and friction of the extrusion die. It soon became clear that this must be done and that, in the right experimental design, it is also possible to differentiate the two influencing factors between the shape of the preselected profile and the frictional forces that are affected by the mold in the work zone.
