现代高等美术教育的目标是加强学科建设,注重人才全面素质的培养,强调对学生道德素质、文化素质、思维素质和应用技能的全方位培养。为此人们开始从各个角度探讨如何达到这一目标,并对以往的教育进行反思。“通常人们把知识分成理性与感性两种类型,虽承认前者源于后者,但确信前者高于后者,是真正的学问,是真理。哲学、数学和一切书本知识是理性范型,而文学与艺术属感性范畴。既使在感性知识中,音乐、美术等艺术似乎低于文字化作品的等级。在我国教育中,文理科分离,理科高于文科,而艺术未能进入教育的基础,成为素质教育的内容,即在整个教育中,理科是必须的,文科次之,艺术可有可无。”
