This paper is based on a research of History of Seodo Folk Song and Gyeonggi Folk Song and how the singer Jun Hwa-Ja has originally sang Sasul-Nanbongga,the Seodo Folk Song.The study findings are based on in-depth interviews of recorded song of Jun Hwa-Ja,the well-known Folk Song Singer of Yanbian.Specific research scope is narrowed to History of the Folk Song;History,Meanings,Vocalization Methods,Singing Methods,Sigimsae Methods(one way of humming),Melody,and Rhythm of Sasul-Nanbongga,the Seodo Folk Song.The study methods are to in-depth interview the Singer Jun Hwa-Ja’s’Life Story of Folk Song’ and research on the History of the Folk Song in Yanbian Region and to study and analysis the historical characteristics in the aspect of the Folk Song.According to the historical origin,Seodo Folk Songs in Yanbian is one of the national heritage that was transferred to Yanbian along with the Hwang-hae,Ham-kyong,Pyeong-an Folk Songs with the immigrants in the time of Korean independence against Japanese occupation.The Folk Song Singers in Yanbian were strong patriots so that even when they learned and sang the Folk Songs,their characteristics were based on the anti-Japanese spirit and in the fate of Korean.Concrete research methods were to record the Singer Jun Hwa-Ja singing Sasul-Nanbongga and transcript the song and analysis the Meanings,Vocalization Methods,Singing Methods,Sigimsae Methods,Melody,and the Rhythm.Furthermore,the singer Jun Hwa-Ja’s personal life history was on in-depth interview and the study was done along with the Folk Songs in Yanbian Region,as well as Yanbian Folk Songs.The two research papers of Sasul-Nanbongga done by Son In-Ea and Jun Young-Hwa in Korea was mainly referenced in this paper.In addition,Sasul-Nanbongga,the Seodo Folk Song that was found in Kim Bong-Kwan’s<Chinese-Korean Folk Song Collection>was a great support.
