Background:To characterize roles of serum hepatitis B virus markers(HBVM) quantitations in the prediction of natural phases of HBV infection.Methods:149 patients of chronic hepatitis B(CHB) undergone ultrasonographically guided liver biopsy from January 2010 to July 2014 in our hospital were analyzed retrospectively.HBV DNA loads,quantitations of hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg),hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg) and hepatitis B core antibody(HBcAb) were collected.Patients were classified into 4 categories:immune tolerant phase(IT,n=28),immune clearance phase(IC,n=66),low-replicative phase(LR,n=26),and HBeAg-negative hepatitis(ENH,n=29) based on clinical,serological and histological data.Variables between groups were compared with Student t-test or one way ANOVA or Mann-Whitney U test.Receiver operator characteristic(ROC) curves were used to determine predictive value of HBVM for natural history phases of HBV infection.
