Curriculum Reform for Information Technology Course at Secondary School in Rural Areas of Hunan, Chi

  In 2000,the Ministry of Education published the Course Outline of Information Technology at Elementary and Secondary School(for trial use).According to the course outline,an information technology course was carried out from the 5th to 8th grades during compulsory education.However,the effects are not as outstanding as we expected,especially in rural areas.In order to learn about the current situation,the author did a preliminary research study at a secondary school called Yanglin in the rural area of Hunan Province,China.Based on the research results,the author learned about three problems,related to their information technology course.Problems were found in three parts: equipment,textbooks,and teachers.According to the preliminary research results that students have difficulty with the textbooks,the author will investigate the curriculum to identify changes for making the course more effective for students learning.In this paper,the author will introduce the pre-research results at first.Second,the author will introduce the current curriculum in China and Japan.Third,the author will propose hypothesis and conduct further research by comparing the curriculum of two countries,reviewing references,and analyzing preliminary research results.
