DNA-PKcs interacting with SIK2 functions in irradiated DNA damage

  DNA-PKcs is an important molecule of non-homologous end joining repair of double strand breaks.Once DNA double strand breaks occurs, DNA-PKcs could be recruited to DNA damaged site within several seconds.Defect of DNA-PKcs leads to a decreased repair ability of DNA double strand breaks and an increased radiosensitivity.In addition to damaged DNA repair,DNA-PKcs plays important role in regulating mitosis process of irradiated cell and is a key molecule to couple damaged DNA repair and mitosis process.DNA-PKcs participates G2 checkpoint of irradiated cell, regulates mitosis process and maintains centrosome and spindle stability.
