High sensitivity fiber-optic geophone and its application in oil and gas exploration

  In this presentation we give us a short introduction on our team and a report of our recent works on fiber DFB laser, fiber DFB geophone arrays, fiber distributed acoustic sensor and fiber sensors in offshore oilfield.With self-developed high-performance DFB-FL, packaging and amplifying, our fiber DFB laser has a narrow linewidth with several tens of mW output based on the MOPA structure.Our 8-channel fiber DFB geophone arrays have advantages of wider bandwidth, higher signal to noise ratio, more high-frequency components and higher section frequency, compared with the moving-coil geophone system in the experiment in Shengli oilfield in November, 2013.Our distributed optical fiber sensing system based on Michelson interferometer of the phase sensitive optical time domain reflectometer can directly obtain the phase, amplitude, frequency response and location information of a random acoustic event at the same time.Experiments shows that our system can well recreate the different acoustic sources with different intensities.We also provide a complete program about platform structure monitoring, temperature and pressure sensing in offshore oilfield with our self-developed fiber sensors.We have finished several successful eases with Shengli Oilfield Company.
