Background: Calcium is the most abundant mineral element in human body, the calcium-binding proteins involved in several cell life activities including myocardial contraction or nerve transmissions.The ligand combination of calcium ions affects the function of calcium-binding proteins directly Thus, the recognition of calcium-binding residues will provide significant advancement in the function research of proteins.We developed a new recognition method of calcium-binding residues based on machine learning, which is different from the previous recognition methods such as sequence alignment or regression model.
