In free piston shock tunnels,attenuation of shock waves will effect states of test gases in nozzle-supply region markedly,which are important to design,operation,and evaluation of these tunnels.Some numerical simulations could describe the compression process and the trajectory of a shock wave in a free piston shock tube,but nevertheless,how to formulate the attenuation of shock waves within real gas condition is still a question.
