Aim: The protective effects of gypenosides from Gynostemma pentaphyllum throughout fatty liver disease (FLD) were examined in rats treated with high fat and cholesterol diet and alcohol.Methods: Male SD rats were divided into control, model, lovastatin, silymarin and gypenosides 15, 30, 60 mg/kg groups.Rats of the latter 6 groups were fed high fat and cholesterol diet and administed alcohol intragastricly once a day.
