Type 1 diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by high blood glucose due to insulin deficiency. In long-term diabetes under poor control, cardiomyopathy occurs and cardiac dysfunction is developed eventually.Hypotheses had been proposed to explain the pathogenesis of diabetic cardiomyopathy which includes impaired calcium homeostasis, increased oxidative stress and altered substrate metabolism. It was reported these factors contributed to the pathologic process of cardiac dysfunction without coronary artery disease. However, the detailed mechanism was only partially understood.
