A pure fourfold-azimuthal dependence of terahertz radiation from polished mono-crystalline Si (100) is observed.This phenomenon is explained by the second-order nonlinearity XDC (2) which is related to the electric quadrupole-magnetic dipole.Based on the combination of XDC (2) and the other processes of terahertz radiation from semiconductor surfaces, the fitting of the azimuthal angle dependence of terahertz radiation has been done.Analysis of the fitting parameters shows that the generally dominant mechanism of terahertz radiation is optical rectification, which is mainly attributed to XDC(2) and the second order nonlinearity Xsurf(2) stemming from the surface where the inversion symmetry of the bulk is broken.
