Ambient mass spectrometry continues to evolve and its impact on the advancement in the areas oftranslational research is increasingly evident.DESI is one such technique that yields spatially-resolved molecular information from cells and tissues, among other surfaces, while the sample is held at ambient conditions;the flowprobe is another.In DESI,a spray of charged droplets is directed towards the surface,whereas, in flowprobe, a continuous flow of solvent is delivered to the surface and aspirated away into an electrospray source.
