In the past decade, packed column supercritical fluid chromatography (pSFC) has increasingly gained momentum in high throughput analysis in both chemical and pharmaceutical laboratories, mainly due to the lower viscosity and higher diffusivity of carbon dioxide that result in faster separation and higher efficiency. The application areas of SFC have evolved from its original petrochemical, pharmaceutical analyses to a wide range of fields including, but not limited to, the analyses and/or purifications of food, flavor and fragrance, natural product, and tobacco.
