The aluminum industry has been developing alloys and products to address the light-weighting needs of the automotive customers.Recently, this light-weighting trend has resulted in an increased demand for aluminum sheet for body-in-white applications in addition to hang-on panels.The BIW applications require high in-service strength while meeting other attributes such as formability, ease of joining, corrosion resistance, crash worthiness etc.Novelis has developed unique set of alloys in the 6xxx series to address high strength requirement with adequate toughness in the final gauge/temper combination.
