Speed of seed germination is a critical character in plant life cycle.Rapid seed germination and seedling establishment are essential for plants to overcome stresses and win the competition under natural conditions.Also,fast germination is favored for crop plants to combat insects and weeds.In this study,137 canola accessions were evaluated for germination speed and they were grouped into three categories based on T50 (time needed for 50%seeds to germinate):extremely fast (EF,<12 h),medium (M,12~18 h) and extremely slow (ES,>18 h),each category accounted for 10.9%,78.9%and 10.2%of the accessions used in this study,respectively.
