An analysis on Yield and Quality Characters of Rapeseed Cultivars Tested in the Regional Trials duri

  The yield and quality characters of new rapeseed cultivars(combinations)tested in the Sichuan provincial regional trials for winter rapeseed from 2001 to 2012 were analyzed.The results showed that since 2001,a total of 97 combinations have passed the provincial regional trials and approved for extension to production,accounting for 19.17%of the total combinations tested in the regional trials.Shuza 6(from 2001 to 2006),Chuanyou 21(from 2007 to 2009)and Deyou 6(from 2010 to 2012)are the three control varieties with an average yield of 2141.85 kg/hm2,2293.65 kg/hm2 and 2594.85 kg/hm2,respectively.Yields of the new combinations showed a rising trend ranging from 2167.65 kg/hm2 to 2829.45 kg/hm2,with an average of 2438.10 kg/hm2.which was significantly higher than the unit area yield of the whole Sichuan Province.Further analysis indicated that the increases in yield were mainly due to the increases in 1000-grain weight and number of siliques per plant.The proportion of low erucic acid and low glucosinolate content combinations increased rapidly during 2001 to 2007.The proportions became steady from 2007 to 2012,with an average of 93.23%.Oil content showed a rising trend in general,ranged from 36.91%to 44.67%,with an average of 41.18%.The oil yield also showed a rising trend in general,ranged from 800.25 kg/hm2 to 1202.10 kg/hm2,with an average of 1006.80 kg/hm2.During the period since the "11th five-year plan"(2006 to 2012),the averages of grain yield,oil content and oil yield were 2558.40 kg/hm2,42.40%and 1085.25 kg/hm2,respectfully,increased by 12.72%,7.42%and 21.03%,respectively,compared with those in the "10th five-year plan" period(2001 to 2005).The results indicated that the yield and quality traits of new rapeseed cultivars in Sichuan province were improved harmoniously with a big breakthrough in the process of double-low rapeseed breeding.However further increases in yield and oil content are still the main objectives in double-low rapeseed breeding in Sichuan province.
