An anti-human CD146 mouse monoclonal antibody, AA98, was generated by immunized the mouse with activated human HUVEC cells.CD146 was initially identified as a progression marker of melanoma (MUC18), also known as A32, Mel-CAM, MCAM, amd S-Endo-1.CD146s over-expression was observed with newly formed blood vessels in many tumors.Monoclonal anti-CD146 antibody AA98 has been shown not only inhibit the HUVEC cells adhesion,migration and proliferation in vitro but also inhibit the angiogenesis and tumor growth in vivo.Human/mouse chimeric AA98 has been developed and is ready to move into clinic development.
