Decompressive craniectomy (DC) has been used as a final option in themanagement of refractory intracranial hypertension caused by severe head injury, cerebral infarction and various other causes including hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage.However, the beneficial effects of DC remain controversial.
