Fecal coliforms are important fecal indicator bacteria which are commonly monitored weekly especially in oyster harvest areas according to requirements of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).This study is intended to predict daily levels of fecal coliforms in oyster harvest waters by identifying environmental factors controlling the transport and fate of fecal coliforms and developing a predictive model.Our results,based on a stepwise regression analysis,indicate that fecal coliform levels are highly affected by wind,salinity,tide,water temperature,rainfall,and solar radiation.
