Cardiac surgery can relieve symptoms and improve the prognosis of patients with aortic stenosis. However, surgeryrelated morbidity and mortality are high when severe cardiac or extra-cardiac factors co-exist.We report the outcome of percutaneous balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAV) as a bridge to aortic valve replacement (AVR) in temporarily inoperable patients in our institution. All patients (between 2002 to 2006) who underwent a bridging percutaneous BAV and had an AVR performed 8-14 weeks later, were included in the study.
