Pedigree Based Analysis (PBA) is a powerful approach for the discovery and characterisation of marker-trait associations for use in marker assisted breeding.It provides information on the chromosomal regions (QTL) that are associated with the observed phenotypic variation, including the number of QTL, their location and effect size, and also on the genetic composition (QTL genotypes) of the germplasm.
