  Natural herbicide from spanish jasmine (Jasminum officinale L.f.var.grandiforum (L.) Kob.)was prepared by mixing crude ethanol extract from spanish jasmine leaves with surfactant at the ratio of 30∶70 to give of 30% active ingredient (a.i.) in soluble concentrate (SC) formulation (NHSJ).The action modes of NHSJ were tested on wild pea (Phaseolus lathyroides L.) by application method, membrane stability and changes in pigment content.NHSJ was absorbed through root more decreased in survival percentages and dry weight of wild pea than absorption through leaf.At 7 days after treatment, wild pea absorbed NHSJ at 20 mg (a.i.)/mL through root had survival rate of 50.25% and dry weight of 1.48 g/plant while control plant had survival rate of 100% and dry weight of 2.93 g/plant.Membrane stability index of wild pea leaf was lower in NHSJ treated plants than control and there was a drastic decline at 7 days in wild pea treated with NHSJ at 5-20 mg (a.i.)/mL.Moreover, there was a low pigment content of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b and carotenoids in leaf of wild pea treated NHSJ through root at all concentrations.
