Extensive efforts have been made to reduce the vibration of cylindrical shells using either passive or active control means.Unconstrained passive damping treatments were studied as a means for suppressing axi-symmetric vibration of thin cylindrical shells[1].In order to attain high damping characteristics, passive constrained layer damping (PCLD) treatments have been successfully employed to various types of cylindrical and conical shells [2-3].The performance of PCLD treatment is achieved at the expense of adding considerable weight to the vibrating structure.
