Flower buds of apricot during winter season were examined by means of microscopy.The scaly coat of the bud was 3 mm long around the Beginning of Winter(19th solar term,early November),remained 4 mm during the period from the Winter Solstice(22nd solar term,late December)to the Beginning of spring(1st solar term,early February),and reached its maximum length,4.5 mm,around the Waking of Insects(3rd solar term,early March).The length of the young flower that was enclosed by the scales was 1 mm around the Beginning of Winter(9th solar term,early September),remained 1.5 mm during the period from the Winter Solstice(22nd solar term,late December)to the Beginning of spring(1st solar term,early February),grew to 4.5 mm around the Waking of Insects(3rd solar term,early March),and reached its maximum length,8 mm,around the Spring Equinox(4th solar term,later March).
