Both brain ageing and Amyloid beta protein (Aß) is known to be associated with the decrease of membrane fluidity and the overload of intracellular calcium ([Ca2+]i).Aniracetam is a known nootropic drug,but the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood.In the present study,we observed the in vitro effects of aniracetam on membrane fluidity and intracellular calcium of synaptosome from hippocampus and frontal cortex of young mice brain with amyloid-beta protein (Aβ) treatment and of aged mice brain.Membrane fluidity was measured by fluorescence anisotropy of the lipophilic probe 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (DPH).
