Copper (Cu) is an essential element for plant growth and development, which mostly functions as a cofactor of numerous proteins.Physiological studies have shown that part of Cu in the older tissues moves to young tissues, but the molecular mechanisms underlying are poorly understood. In the present study, we found that a member of YSL (Yellow stripe like) family, OsYSL16, is involved in redistribution of Cu from older tissues to the developing tissues and seeds.
