Objective Mycoplasma gallisepticum is an economically important pathogen of avian species, M.gallisepticum causes acute and chronic respiratory diseases accompanied by catarrhal inflammation of respiratory tract mucosa.M.synoviae is an important pathogen causing respiratory disease, synovitis and airsacculitis in commercial poultry.M.iowae is the etiological agent of reduced hatchability, malabsorption syndrome, mild airsacculitis, leg deformities, and exudative tenosynovitis in turkeys and chickens.The avian mycoplasmas are associated with respiratory disease, synovitis and arthritis, poor performance, skeletal deformities, and embryo mortality.
