The purpose of the present study was to use structural equation modeling to investigate the casual relationships among the motivational factors of Chinese EFL learners.The theoretical model was developed on the basis of D(o)rnyeis L2 Motivational Self System (2005) which subsumes the ideal L2 self,the oughtto L2 self and L2 learning experience.Data was gathered by means of questionnaire and a total number of 416 university students from four Chinese mainland cities participated in the survey.
