With recent rapid improvement and development of technology of earth observation,a large quantity of observation data are brought about every day around the whole world. The retrieval, processing and utilization of these mass data is a big and difficult challenge for most scientists. In order to challenge the technical difficulties of the management and applications of massive earth observation data,we use cloud computing and cloud storage technology constructing a highly scalable cloud service platform named Geospatial Data Cloud. There are several key technologies in our platform, including: efficient mass data retrieval, internet geospatial data crawling, online geospatial model calculation, data localized task scheduling and user private data storage et al.At present, the data resources in our system mainly are open data, including LANDSAT,MODIS,AVHRR,EO-1,DEM,NCAR et al.The volume of data entities achieved 220 TB,and the total number of metadata reached 6 million. All these open data are providing online services for free.In the future, part of the business data and user-contributed data will also be incorporated into the system.By now,our platform has integrated 12 geospatial models. The computing tasks can be submitted online.Users only need to wait for a while, and then download the calculation results or view the results online. In the future, more functionality such as data sharing between users, web publishing of geospatial data will be introduced, and more geospatial models will be integrated into the platform. For a better experience, please visit our website: http://www.gscloud.cn
