本文主要介绍GIS及其相关技术在林业系统中的应用,提出了基于GIS技术实现森林资源信息的共享、交换、整合、调度与集成应用的系统模式，设计的林业信息系统具有林业统计报表、林业专题图、小班信息管理、小班信息更新、林业资源数据的归档与回溯等功能，并分析了基于ArcGIS的林业信息系统的主要优势.
