Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanotube is a widely used semiconductor for photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting. In order to overcome the application bottleneck due to its wide energy band gap (3.2 eV for anatase), hydrogen treatment was effectively employed.Unlike the previous method of using high pressure or high temperature, we report a new way of cathodal hydrogen doping as a simple and effective strategy to improve the performance of TiO2 nanotube arrays for water splitting.
