Aims 5-HT1A receptors (HTR1As) of the central nervous system (CNS) was thought to be important in the pathogenesis of chronic stress related functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs), but its potential mechanism is still not clear. Some studies showed the abnormality of HTR1A in CNS, through changing neuron activities of visceral sensory area such as insular cortex, mediated visceral hypersensitivity which was an important pathophysiological mechanism of stress-related FGIDs.Insular HTR1A-NR2B pathway is considered to be important in modulating the visceral hypersensitivity induced by chronic stress. This study aims to find whether insular HTR1A-NR2B pathway influences mediates the visceral hypersensitivity induced by chronic stress in rats.
