Objective To investigate the effectiveness of eradication of Helicobacter pylori on preventing metachronous gastric carcinoma after endoscopic resection of early gastric cancer, thus providing clinical practice guidelines.Methods We searched for Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Science Citation Index databases and abstract books of major European, American, and Asian gastroenterological meetings were searched.All clinical trials that examined the efficacy of Helicobacter pylori eradication therapies on incidence of metachronous gastric carcinoma after endoscopic resection of early gastric cancer were selected for this systematic review and meta-analysis.We measured efficacy on incidence of metachronous gastric carcinoma by using odd ratio (OR).Statistical analysis was performed with Stata 11.0.Subgroup and sensitivity analyses were also carried out.
