刘铁群主任就性医学诊断原则、临床评估、临床干预措施、以及待解决的问题等多方面展开演讲。其中在诊断原则中，刘铁群教授提出性的三个维度的探寻和研究手段，包括性接触维度、生殖维度、以及性欲维度。就临床评估和治疗而言，刘铁群教授着重强调了性器具的合理使用以及男女配合治疗的重要性。面对我们亟待解决的问题，刘教授提出团队建设困难、行业有待于规范发展、政策和法规存在模糊地带、缺少相关的诊疗指南、缺少中国的检测标准、多学科联合的模式/平台有待建设、学科社会知晓度低、有效的传播途径少，需要大家共同为之奋斗。
