Development of the Material Flow Accounting Model for Planning and Evaluation of Biomass Use System

  To construct a sustainable society,utilizing waste biomass as fossil fuel substitutes is one of important policies.In this paper,a material flow accounting model was developed to quantify goods and wastes produced from biomass and fossil fuel.The model comprises of two main operational variables; growth rate of value-added of industry by sector and ratios of utilizing each biomass.A user can analyze a biomass plan on the basis of future balance of biomass supply-demand driven by the change of industry structure,population,and land use.We applied the model to Zhejiang Province and made Industrial Development scenario (ID) and Urban-Rural Linkage scenario (URL) to evaluate effects of bio-energy on reduction in consumption of fossil fuel.All of waste biomass was set to convert to methane gas,bio-ethanol,biomass power,and eco-feed under URL.
