Hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury represents a common pathological process that is inevitable after hepatic resection, liver transplantation, or hypotensive shock followed by recovery. It has been widely accepted that I/R injury is initiated by reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulated during the early reperfusion phase post ischemia, but cellular mechanisms controlling ROS production and scavenge have not been fully understood.
