　　Cholinergic modulation is essential for frequency-specific plasticity of the central auditory system arising from learning and experience.Activation of cholinergic nuclei,such as the nucleus basalis in the basal forebrain and the pedunculopontine tegmental nucleus in the brainstem,is important to induce the auditory receptive field plasticity.
