Cardiopulmonary support with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is widely used in large centers that perform heart surgery or have a well-defined and reasoned program for it.This treatment method can be very helpful in adult, pediatric and neonatal patients.In many situations, it is not only the best option, but the only way to prevent thedeath of patients with serious cardio-respiratory disorder.
