China has a long-term plan of launching three series of ocean satellites,including the ocean color series,HY-1 series.Chinese first ocean color satellite,HY-1A,had been launched on May,15,2002,and the second,HY-1B,have been orbiting from 11 April 2007.Besides,Chinese meteorological satellite,FY-3A,had been launched on 27 May 2008 with the payload of Chinese medium resolution spectral imager (MERSI) which can be used for ocean color remote sensing.The Chinese small satellite constellation (HJ-1A and HJ-1B) for environment and disaster monitoring also includes the ocean color sensor,and has been on orbit in 2008.With those ocean color sensors orbiting,China will have several sources of own ocean color satellite data.
