First Fungal Culture Bank of Pakistan was established in June 2003 with the seed money provided by Higher education commission of Pakistan (HEC) as a research centre within the Institute of Mycology and Plant Pathology (now known as Institute of Agricultural Sciences) University of the Punjab Lahore Pakistan.The objectives if this highly valuable project were conservation, identification and preservation of local mycoflora, to supply fungal cultures to researchers and to collaborate with world culture collection centers.
