Session selection:The advent of the molecular age has proven Microbes to be the dominant life forms on Earth.Microbes associated with our own bodies outnumber our own cells by a 10∶1 ratio [3-4],while current estimates on the total number of bacterial cells in our oceans exceed the estimated number of stars in the Universe by several orders of magnitude [6].Microbes clearly surpass multi-cellular life in abundance, metabolic activity, genetic, and biochemical diversity.

本项目组从土壤中分离到一株Pseudomonas mendocina,它能够利用非相关性碳源,如:葡萄糖,合成中长链PHA(由6～18个碳原子的单体组成).这种PHA由3-羟基己酸,3-羟基辛酸,3-羟基癸酸,△7-3-羟基十六烷酸,3-羟基十八烷酸五种单体构成.
