The most popular method of modeling rarefied gas dynamics is the direct simulation Monte Carlo(DSMC) method.This method has been well approved in solving problems of spacecraft descent at altitudes above 85 km.In the DSMC method,the gas is presented as a set of individual particles modeling the behavior of a large number of real molecules.User-defined parameters of the methods,which affect the accuracy of simulations,are the computational domain size,the time step,the number of particles,the cell size,the available computer memory,and,correspondingly,the number of processors.
