Marine fungi are severely understudied in the Arctic.In this study, fungi were isolated from small pieces of 50 shore-cast and sea-floor logs incubated on agar plates, and were identified based on ITS and LSU sequences.The aim was to explore the taxonomic, phylogenetic and ecological diversity of wood-inhabiting marine fungi using a culturing approach and study the factors shaping fungal communities along the long coastline of mainland Northern Norway.
