Objective To investigate the effect of fasting time on the clinical outcome of patients with peptic ulcer bleeding and to assess whether patients with peptic ulcer bleeding should be strictly fasted early. Methods The clinical data of 152 patients with peptic ulcer bleeding were retrospectively analyzed. The confounding factors were corrected by regression model to analyze whether the fasting time was the clinical outcome of patients with peptic ulcer bleeding (hospitalization time, hospitalization expenses, in-hospital mortality, persistent bleeding, and then Bleeding) significant impact factors. Results Fasting time was not a significant factor influencing clinical outcomes of patients with peptic ulcer bleeding (hospital stay, hospitalization costs, persistent bleeding and rebleeding). In this study, there were no hospital deaths and the impact of fasting time on in-hospital mortality in patients with peptic ulcer bleeding can not be analyzed. Conclusion Patients with peptic ulcer bleeding do not need to be strictly fasted early.
